Gracie and Max

This morning, Gracie was spending time with Max.  Just enjoying some snuggle time with her puppy not even realizing that anyone else was around.  Max's ears are really starting to itch and he's doing his best to work around that darn cone to scratch and get some relief.  Gracie noticed this and sat there gently rubbing his neck and behind his bandaged ears talking quietly to him.  Her daddy listened in to hear exactly what she was saying to comfort her sweet little pup...

Gracie: "I know Max.  It's hard when you have an itch you can't reach.  I get the itches on my site and can't ever get to it either cuz it's under my pod.  It's OK Max, I'll help you.  You know what Max?  Now you're going to be kinda like me; did you know that?  I'm different than everyone else too and now you match me."

What an insightful child.  At only 7 years old, Miss Gracie has such amazing compassion and empathy.  She knows what it's like to be different and also to be uncomfortable or not feel good and not be able to do anything about it except endure.  She and Max are a beautiful pair; perfectly matched up and understanding each other beyond what I ever expected.  They both share the same spirit of compassion and grace towards everyone who's life they touch.

  2. Thank you:). I believe you have to look for the good in everything or you'll end up drowning in the bad. Gracie and Max are both beautiful examples of strength and beauty in the midst of adversity:)

  4. Thanks Dan:) You had devine intervention when you matched Max William with Gracie. They are two peas in a pod. Now that the dust has settled and I can finally put two thoughts together, I truly feel that even this part of Max's story is important. Life is always a beautiful mess, it's what you do with it that counts. I would have never wanted for this to happen to Max (and still fight back the tears when I think about it) but the fact is, Gracie has found something even deeper now to identify with Max on. He is her little warrior and now every time we look at him, we see just how dedicated his is to Miss Gracie in the way he has fought to keep serving her through is own trial and pain. He is more than AMAZING. Thank you Dan for this beautiful Max:)
